SERDANG: The government is introducing a new initiative to safeguard the welfare of retired civil servants, known as the "1Malaysia Retirement Civil Service Support".
Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Ali Hamsa said the initiative, under the National Blue Ocean Strategy, would be managed by the Public Service Department (PSD).
"This initiative is one of the services for retired public servants, which will focus on a few things like the well-being and welfare of pensioners, entrepreneurship, financial management and health care.
"This clearly shows the government continues to care and not marginalise civil servants even after retirement," he said in his speech at an event for long-serving staff on Wednesday night.
He said a study done under the PSD showed that most retirees were concerned about health issues, followed by welfare and advice on financial planning for retirement.
Ali said a website for retired civil servants was being developed by the PSD and was expected to be launched next month. – Bernama
