Four High Court judges who have been elevated to the Court of Appeal received their appointment letters from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong today.

They are Ghazali Cha, Mariana Yahya, See Mee Chun and Hashim Hamzah.

Present at the ceremony were Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, Court of Appeal President Rohana Yusuf, Chief Judge of Malaya Azahar Mohamed and Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim.

Ghazali, who is based in Alor Setar, started as judicial commissioner (JC) on Sept 1, 2005 before being confirmed as High Court judge on Sept 5, 2007.

Mariana, who is in Kuala Lumpur, started as JC on March 1 , 2007 and was elevated to the High Court on April 14, 2012.

See, from Johor Bahru, began her career in the judiciary as JC on May 11, 2010 before she was confirmed as High Court judge on Feb 19, 2014.

Hashim, who is in Ipoh, started as JC from Nov 1, 2012 before becoming a judge on Sept 12, 2014.

FMT understands the four will take their oath of office before Rohana on April 1.

They will join 25 others in the Court of Appeal, often described as the main engine of the judiciary.

FMT also understands that six from the Judicial and Legal Service and four from the private practice who have been appointed JCs will take their oath of office before Azahar and Abang Iskandar.
