PUTRAJAYA: The country’s civil service is not affected by the proclamation of Emergency, assures Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali (pic).
“I would like to give my assurance that civil servants will remain committed to ensuring that the government’s delivery system is not affected during this period.
“The civil service and I will continue to remain loyal to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and will support the proclamation of Emergency by carrying out our responsibilities and ensuring that the best service is given to the rakyat and the country, ” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Jan 12).
The nation's administrative machinery, explained Mohd Zuki, would be operating as normal during the Emergency, with strict adherence to standard operating procedures issued for the movement control order (MCO).
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had earlier on Tuesday proclaimed a state of Emergency nationwide from now until Aug 1 as a proactive measure to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.
The King had agreed to the decision after a meeting with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Monday (Jan 11).
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong had decreed for the Emergency to be in force up to Aug 1 or earlier if the number of Covid-19 cases can be effectively controlled and brought down.
