OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY & HEALTH  AT THE WORKPLACE

Enterprises should have exemplary Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) performance to ensure the protection of all people affected by work activities. Employers should have systems for assessing and controlling risks, aimed at preventing harm to people from work-related incidents and accidents, thereby minimizing absences from work and disruption to processes, services and communities.

The efficient management of OSH risks is best achieved by instilling a safety culture within the organization, adopting a preventative approach, installing effective internal training systems, applying risk management and control principles aligning OSH intervention with other business operations.

The training package is designed to assist employers to understand the basic OSH elements at the workplace. The training package will discussed legal requirements, duties and responsibilities of employers and employees and study the commons hazards and how to control them in order to improve the workplace.

Objectives

By the end of the two days session the participants would be able:

· To increase awareness and understanding of Occupational Safety, Health & Welfare at workplace;
· To induce a positive attitude towards safe and health ;
· To reduce industrial accidents at workplace; and
· To promote an effective safety and health practices at the workplace

Trainer

Anis Fahmy Pauzi is the OSH Consultant of the Malaysian Employers Federation. He is trained specifically on OSH performance and workplace improvement by Nippoin-keidenran International Corporation Center of Japan and has attended advanced training on workplace improvement organized by OSH Centre and Japanese International Corporation Agency, Department of Labour and Employment, Government of Philippines .He is a Certified Trainer registered with the Human Resources Development Berhad (PSMB), with 16 years experience in Occupational Safety and Health. Previously, he served as an training officer at the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Malaysia for 5 years. Mr. Anis Fahmy Pauzi holds a Master of Science in OSH Management from University Utara Malaysia. Currently he represents MEF in the SIRIM Industry Standard Committee for OSH, Corporate Consultative meeting of DOSH, several sub-committee on Osh under the purview of the National Council for OSH and is one of the OSH award auditor for the Malaysian Society of OSH. He is also an approved Trainer on Essentials of OSH using the International Training Centre (ITC) – International Labour Organisation (ILO) methodologies and materials which is based in Turin – Italy.
