Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS)

Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS)
Seminars 2013

by Assoc Prof Ng Eng Juan
January 2013; Kuala Lumpur

The introduction of the new accounting framework, Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), effective 1 January 2012 marked the full convergence with IFRSs. Effectively, all new IFRSs and Interpretations issued by IASB will basically be adopted and applied in Malaysia at the same timing as IASB effective date without any modifications or changes to the standards/interpretations. The financial statements that apply MFRS must also state that it complies with IFRSs. The challenge now is the for accountants and auditors that deal with financial statements prepared under MFRS framework to ensure that they are always up to speed on the latest development in IFRS world.

The objective of these two seminars are to provide an annual update of the latest development in MFRS/IFRS and a critical review of the new consolidation rules under MFRS/IFRS. Participants will have the opportunity to tap into the vast IFRS knowledge of the speaker, Prof Ng Eng Juan, who has just recently released his latest edition of – A Practical Guide to Financial Reporting Standards (Malaysia), a higly popular book published by CCH.
