EMPLOYMENT LAWS – RECENT CHANGES AND ITS IMPACT

16 & 17 October 2012 at MEF Petaling Jaya

The enactment of National Wages Consultative Act 2011 and the consequential Minimum Wage Order 2012, the Minimum Retirement Age Act 2012 and the amendments to the Employment Act 1955 which came into force 1 April 2012 have considerable impact on employers .These changes, all in one year have caused considerable concern to employers.

Faced with the array of changes to employment laws some of it highly technical, employers are finding it more difficult to manage these changes due its complexity. Some of these changes have far reaching implication on costs, compensation system and tenure of employment.

A two day training program on the changes to the employment laws is organized in order to assist the participants to understand the changes and more importantly managing the changes.

Objectives

Participants will be able to :
  • Understand the implication of these changes
  • Manage and implement the changes efficiently and effectively with minimum impact in cost
  • Negotiate with employees or trade union on inclusion of allowances in Minimum Wage Order 2012. These changes need to be implemented before 1 January 2013.
  • Implement the retirement of employees according to certain consideration and principles.
  • Impact of amendments to Employment Act 1955

Trainer
  • M. Vivekanandan is a General Manager with Malaysian Employers Federation. He has extensive experience representing employers in Industrial and Labour Court for the past 12 years. Prior to his attachment to the Malaysian Employers Federation, he had served the Department of Labour the Department of Industrial Relations (H.Q) holding various positions. He was involved in the administration and enforcement of labour laws for 25 years.
Course Fees
