One-Stop Centre For Expat EP Opens Its Doors

PETALING JAYA: The one-stop centre responsible for processing and issuing of all Employment Passes (EP) and other EP-related passes for expatriates working in Malaysia has officially begun operations.

Jointly managed by the Immigration Department and Talent Corporation Malaysia (TalentCorp), MYXpats Centre will mainly process and issue passes like EP category 1 and 2, Dependent Pass, Long Term Social Visit Pass and Temporary Employment Visit Pass for Maids.

"The opening of this centre introduces a new level of enhanced immigration services as the centre will be implementing the Electronic Referral Visa (eVDR) that will enable companies to download and print the visa approval letter, instead of having them to collect it from the Immigration Department," said Immigration Department director-general Datuk Mustafa Ibrahim before officiating the centre today.

Mustafa added that through their secure, government-run system, they will ensure all applications are processed in the most efficient manner possible.

Based in Surian Tower in Mutiara Damansara, the MYXpats Centre will also complement other government approving authorities that process expatriate EP applications such as the manufacturing sector of Malaysian Investment Development Authority, Multimedia Development Corporation (MSC status and IT), the banking, finance and insurance sectors of Bank Negara Malaysia, capital market of the Securities Commission Malaysia, East Coast Economic Region Development Council and Iskandar Regional Development Authority.
