IT’S TIME TO RESIGN WHEN...

YOU DREAD GOING TO WORK IN THE MORNING

We all get a case of the Monday blues from time to time, but if even thinking about your job fills you with dread, it’s probably time to leave. Don’t keep telling yourself you’re having a bad week if what you really have is a job that’s a bad fit.

YOU CAN’T STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT YOUR JOB… ALL THE TIME

If you’re enthusiastic about what you’re doing, you’d be thrilled to share your experiences. But if you feel a strong need to complain about your job or your boss all the time, then maybe it’s time to rethink your career choice.

YOU’RE NOT PROUD OF YOUR WORK

When you’re not proud of what you do, then chances of you excelling at your current job would be very slim. And when you’re not doing well at it, you will continue not to be proud of your job and the only solution for you is to try something new to escape this vicious cycle.

YOU’RE NOT FITTING IN

First of all, ask yourself if you really enjoy working alongside your boss and your colleagues. Be honest and if you realise that the reason why you’re not fitting in is because you’re not passionate about your job, then perhaps you can apply to transfer to another department. But if it’s not the job, but the people you’re working with, that you struggle to fit in with, then you should try looking at a different company.

YOU DON’T HAVE A GOOD WORK-LIFE BALANCE

When you find that you’re spending more time in the office finishing up your work and less time with your family, or you can’t meet your work deadline because you’re overwhelmed with everything, then you should consider looking elsewhere for a job that allows you to actually spend time at home without doing any work. Work is work, you shouldn’t sacrifice all your leisure time dedicating to your job.

THERE’S BEEN NO SALARY INCREMENT EVEN THOUGH YOU’VE BEEN HANDLING MORE WORK

Sometimes there’s a good reason for this, but usually it’s an alarming sign that you should leave. When your boss is handling out more work to you but there’s no sign of salary increment, it may be time to move on. Especially when the company is performing well but it’s not reflected in your payslip.

YOU’RE STAGNATING AT YOUR JOB

If you’re not growing or learning anything new anymore, it might be time to leave. When you’ve outgrown the position and there is no opportunity for advancement– or you seem to work the same job day in, day out without any opportunity for growth, even though you crave more–it’s time to get out.
