Sustainability of Enterprises in a Challenging Environment

Grand Dorsett Subang, Subang Jaya, Selangor, 16 - 17 October 2012

About The Conference

Presently we are in the midst of a global economic slowdown and employers are facing unprecedented challenges to sustain their survival. Against this very challenging backdrop, the Government must pursue market-based reforms and private sector development to make it easier for companies to invest, do business, and create jobs.

For employers to maximise their contribution to national and community development, policymakers must ensure that employers are able to assess and minimise negative impacts when they consider adding to regulation or imposing new costs on business. many pertinent issues particularly in relation to the increasing costs on business. This year's National Conference theme on 'Sustainability of Enterprises in a Challenging Environment' addresses many pertinent issues particularly in relation to the increasing cost of doing business.

Burning issues that would be hotly-debated over the two-day Conference include:
  • The latest changes to the Employment Act and its impact on employers
  • Restructuring wages and designing compensation package in the light of the National Minimum Wages
  • What are the salient provisions of the newly enacted Minimum Retirement Age and how it would affect business and operations?
  • Managing older workers within the context of the diverse spectrum of age groups within your company
  • What is the Private Retirement Scheme and should employees be encouraged to contribute?
  • Is there a need for Unemployment Insurance?

The MEF National Conference provides a valuable platform for the constructive exchange of views and ideas on important issues affecting competitiveness, and in identifying the best practices in dealing with the increasing cost of doing business within  a highly competitive environment.
